Regional acclaim for Bury's Famous Market

The Award-Winning Bury Market has racked up yet more acclaim at the recent Manchester Tourism Awards.

At the prestigious award ceremony at the Lowry Centre in Salford, the market won 'Highly Commended' in the 'Independent Tourism Retailer of the Year' category.

This recognises the contribution of small, quirky or unusual retail outlets that offer a unique experience in Greater Manchester.

The category was very competitive with the four finalists being Afflecks, Bury Market, Royston Real Food Market, and Manchester Craft and Design Centre, the eventual winners.

Market manager Andrew Heyes said: "It was great to see Bury Market being recognised for its contribution to the region's tourist economy and it is always good to see our traders, who make the market what it is, getting the acknowledgement they deserve for their hard work and effort."
