Bury Council is committed to supporting the indoor market traders during this difficult time, while the indoor market is temporarily closed.

The Indoor Market Support Fund will support traders to:

  • relocate their business(es)
  • undertake cosmetic and other works
  • continue trading.

The fund has been designed to support indoor Market Traders to continue trading in close proximity to the Indoor Market Hall.

Bury Indoor Market Support Fund

Individual traders can apply for reimbursement of costs up to the value of £3,000.

Eligibility

All incurred expenditure must relate to the cost of relocating to a temporary trading space within the vicinity of Bury Market Hall, in line with allocations agreed with the Bury Market Team, or adapting an existng perimeter stall to increase footfall.

Eligible costs can include :

  • Cosmetic improvements
  • Painting (the cost of labour for a trade person and paint, or recovery of paint and associated equipment costs if traders carry out their own painting).
  • Temporary signage
  • Fit out (for example, shelving and racks)
  • Temporary storage
  • Costs of relocation for heavy items (for example, fridges, heavy duty kitchen equipment)

Please note: Bury Council reserves the right to consider other costs at their discretion.

How to apply and the payments process

Applications for the grant can be made online. One application per trader. 

Payments will be made directly to the approved recipient’s bank account by electronic transfer. The Council intends to reimburse costs as quickly as possible but can only do so having received all related receipts and proof of purchases.

The process will include a declaration by the applicant that confirms that the application is compliant with Subsidy Control rules and has been awarded based on information being provided by the business.

Please note:  The Council can only work within the limits of the available funding and once this resource is fully spent, the scheme will be closed.

Other information

The fund will be subject to tax. Only businesses which make an overall profit once grant income is included will be subject to tax.

It’s important that any money received through this grant is used in the agreed way, if not you may be required to pay some or all of it back. The Council does not accept any liability for any issues that may arise for businesses because of applying for, receiving, or not receiving grant payments under this fund.
