Update on the indoor market hall

Tuesday 23 July 2024 - Independent appraisal

Bury Council has appointed consultants to carry out an independent appraisal to determine the best course of action regarding the future of Bury’s indoor market hall.

Global consultancy firm Mace will be looking at the options that were presented to traders and the public earlier this year, as well as other options, and have been asked to bring back their report in September 2024.

The council has asked Mace to present the full cost of all the options, advise on the best use of public funding, and consider the most minimal disruption to traders and customers.

Trader's views

Traders are being contacted to ensure that they can give their views before any decision is made.

It is essential that the best decision about the indoor market hall is reached, and that everyone has the chance to have their say before that decision is made. With the new flexi-hall and improvements we are making to the wider market, we are determined to ensure that our famous and historic Bury Market will thrive and prosper for many more generations to come.
